CPI rallies against corruption in ShimlaNew Delhi, MTT News Desk: Today on the call of the state committee of the CPIM protest rallies against rampant corruption were held in different parts of the state.

The state secretariat members participated in these protest rallies. Strong protest demonstrations were held in Chamba, Nahan, Palampur, Kangra, Banjar, Kullu, Mandi, Jhanjheli, Jogendernagar, balh, Sarkaghat, Rampur bhawanagar and Una.

Similar rallies will be held on 25th in Hamirpur district. In Shimla district mass rallies were held in Shimla town, Theog, Rampur and Rohru.

The CPIM had organized a week long campaign in the state in which door to door leaflet distribution was organized. Also many street corner meetings were held before today’s rallies.

In Shimla town the CPIM activists comprising of students in large numbers, women, youth, working class, middle class , section of the traders, porters and several other sections assembled outside the DC’s office.

After an hour long dharna they marched through the Lower Bazar and held a street corner meeting at Naaz. The main speaker to address the gathering was Rakesh Singha , former MLA from Shimla and presently state secretary of CPIM.

He lambasted both the BJP and Congress for usurping share of the common people through the ruinous policies of neo liberalism that , according to him, became the principal source of corruption.

The other speakers included Tikender Singh Panwar, Kuldeep Singh Tanwar members state secretariat and Sanjay Chauhan the district secretary of the party. The speakers indicted the the Congress rule of UPA 2 and stated that is has been the hallmark of corruption in independent India.

The Congress and the BJP has been ardent supporters of neo liberlalism in the country and always targeted the license raj for corruption in the country.

The CPIM has stated, the policies of neo liberalism have come under severe attack from one of its profound supporters. Even Joseph Stiglitz , the former Chief Economist at the World Bank called neo liberal prescriptions of privatisation’, free market, free trade and free flow of capital as 4-steps for plundering third world economies and pauperizing their people.

The CPIM has stated, corruption has reached unprecedented proportions after the neo liberal policies in 1991. The facilitation for such large scale corruption takes place through the connived nexus of Corporates – Politicians- and Bureaucrats.

Whereas rightly the ongoing campaign by different organizations and individuals indict the politicians and the Bureaucrats, the Corporates are left out. The party has also exposed the role of this nexus and the limitations of the campaign by others.

The party has ridiculed the BJP for its slyly campaign against corruption. The BJP in the state is synonymous with JP i.e. the Jaypee group that has become its most favourite crony. The BJP has been heavily bribed to dole out concessions for opening of private universities , violations of section 118 of the Tenancy Act.

The BJP has several times been indicted for working as a real estate mafia in the state. Even the party’s own Member of Parliament from Kangra has made serious charges against the present leadership of the BJP. The BJP has proven its credentials by reinstating some of the corrupt officials of the state government who were arrested accepting bribe. Even the trial court has convicted some of the officials.

The CPIM has called upon the people to wholeheartedly support the party’s campaign and expose the unholy nexus of Corporate – Politician- Bureaucrat nexus that is facilitating corruption.
