UNO reluctant to condemn India over HR violations in OK PDF Print E-mail
Written by Kashmir Desk

Rawalpindi, July 08: Despite the daily reports sent from Islamabad based headquarter of United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to the Secretary General of United Nations Organisation (UNO), Mr. Ban Ki-Moon. Not a single statement has been issued so far to condemn the human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir by Indian forces in last couple of months. According to UNO website Mr. Moon's last one month activities indicate that Human Rights violations by Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir failed to conquer attention of UNO and its Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-Moon. The last recorded activity of Mr. Moon over Kashmir issue is unknown.

On 30th of April 2010, Chairman of APHC Mr. Syed Ali Geelani wrote an open letter to Mr. Moon, demanding an end to state terrorism and human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir by Indian forces and the right of self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, no response was noted to this open letter however.

Strengthening the opinion amongst third world countries against UNO that it is playing in the hands of powerful western countries and is becoming more and more useless day after day for the rest of the world, Mr. Moon's last one-month activities clearly indicates the rigid use of UNO platform against poor and weak countries only.

In Occupied Kashmir, protests and agitations against occupying forces are mounting day after day. At least 20 youths had so far been killed and 500 others injured by Indian Army in last one month, many abducted and not released. Curfew in different places of Occupied Kashmir such as Srinagar, Islamabad, Baramolla severely affecting the daily lives. People are reluctant to send their kids to schools fearing abduction of their children by Indian Army.

India continuously increasing its Army to crush Anti-India protests and agitations in Occupied Kashmir. With Shoot-On-Site instructions, a free play is provided to Indian forces to flush off any chances of so called official investigations, in case of any report of unethical and illegal killing of Kashmiri people. Blocking the access of international media and human rights organisations, Indian government stopped issuing visas for international media and HR organisations to visit Occupied Kashmir. While the curfew passes and permits of local Kashmiri journalists are also cancelled. Indian Prime Minister Mr. Singh, who had headed a top-secret meeting of top military and intelligence officials and cabinet members yesterday in New Delhi, vowed to crush the Anti-India protestors with full force.

Matching the pace of Anti-India protests and agitations in Occupied Kashmir, the military activities of Indian forces are also on rise at Cease Fire Line. Numbers of incidents are reported by Pakistani Army to UNMOGIP, but no yields.

"The military authorities of Pakistan have continued to lodge complaints with UNMOGIP about ceasefire violations. The military authorities of India have lodged no complaints since January 1972 and have restricted the activities of the UN observers on the Indian side of the Line of Control." Quoted by UNMOGIP at its official website.

India, which is spending billions of dollars on its defence against unknown enemies, is one of the poorest countries in the world. A recent report from USA tells that the highest numbers of illegal immigrants in United States are from India.
