The concept of TipJar is quite new though. But there are hundreds of thousands of people around the world, who are successfully using it to fund their welfare projects and also to earn their bread & butter over the Internet. However, in the countries like Pakistan, majority of the Internet users, bloggers and website owners are still unfamiliar with this terminology. Thus loosing potential revenue by not using this technique. So, what is TipJar? And how it benefits to you?

In order to understand what is TipJar, you are not supposed to be a genius. It is not a rocket science. If you simply put a space between “Tip” and “Jar”, you will comfortably come to know that what is this about. But, believe me, this is totally different from begging over the Internet and, infect, a different way to sell your products and/or services to the people over Internet.

Now, just observe that we, at http://www.markthetruth.com, are providing useful information about world politics, current affairs, war on terror, inter country relationships, business, sports etc. This is not it, but we had also added the section of Book Reviews. Additionally, a discussion forum is also there, where you can discuss any topic of your choice with others. In future, we will also publish research reports. Letters to Editor and Open Letters functionality is already there. Though, you can’t see these things at the time this article has been written. But will automatically pop-up, once we start receiving such letters from our visitors. And you will also be able to publish press releases at our website.

And we need financial resources to keep all this running and there are numerous ways to arrange finances. Arranging advertisers and displaying their adds over the site, sending third party emails to website members, selling paid memberships with extra services, which normal visitors are not offered, sponsorships are just few of them. TipJar is just a new addition to this list. Using TipJar, normal visitors, who are not required to pay for the services we offer to them on our website are encouraged to pay for our services voluntarily. The visitors can pay any amount, which they can easily afford. However, the minimum amount generally not less than a dollar.

The next question, which rises, is that how your visitors will be paying tip to you? Well, you can integrate E-Commerce solution for that. If you are already offering paid memberships and/or selling books or any other product or services on your website. Then you may already have E-Commerce implemented on your site. You have to do nothing, just call your administrators and instruct them to add a TipJar link in your website and allow people to pay anything between one dollar and one billion dollar as a tip to your website. However, if your website does not have E-Commerce facility, you can still allow your visitors to voluntarily pay for your services using companies like Paypal, MoneyBooker. All you need is an account with them and instruct your visitors to pay through these companies. Later, you can transfer your funds in your bank account.

There are many plugins available to integrate TipJar in your blogs or websites. Using such plugins, you can make the process easier for your visitor to pay voluntarily for your services. However, once again, this is not a rocket science and I personally believe that if you know a little about Paypal or MoneyBookers, then you will prefer not to use such plugins. Instead, you will use the straightforward way to integrate your website or blog with them and start receiving remuneration for your services from your visitors.

By the way, http://www.tipjar.com is also there. But these buddies are looking for investor now a day. Perhaps, the buddies at tipjar.com are not richer than me and thus having financial difficulties. Therefore, they are looking for the investors. I do not know if they, by themselves, looking for tip using TipJar from their visitors.

http://www.tipjoy.com allows you to give and receive tips online. But, they do not offer you to withdraw your money, as this will change the legal status of their business and they will have to obtain certain licenses from US government, which are not only costly but also put more restrictions on such companies. However, you can choose to receive either Amazon Gift Cards or can donate your funds to the charity.  Tipjoy.com is the project of Y Combinators. Y Combinators sponsor small online set ups and in return obtain ownership, up to 20%. Y Combinators had provided support to many small businesses in US and you can view the list of success stories from their website, which is http://www.ycombinator.com.

TipJar is also a terminology used by few companies like Google to help in the shape of tips. I really do not know which use of TipJar came first in existence. Google, however, has set up the TipJar site at http://moderator.appspot.com/#16/e=3cfc, which allows its visitors to share tips about how to save money in the recessionary period and allow others to vote and rank to determine their usefulness.

Once again, TipJar is a useful technique to encourage Internet visitors to pay voluntarily for the services offered free of cost by you. Using TipJar is as easy as the easiest thing, whatever over the Internet. All you need is an account with the companies like Paypal, MoneyBooker etc and you are on your way. I am sure that many of you would love to use this wonderful money making technique to fund your blogs and websites.
